WEB DESK:England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes, sustained a significant injury after a cricket ball struck his face, leading to visible swelling and bruising.
According to reports from the UK media, Stokes was injured during a practice session when he was hit in the face by a ball. He later posted a photo on his Instagram story displaying swelling beneath his right eye and a bruise.
The image also shows cuts and abrasions on his cheek, with cotton inserted in his nose to stem bleeding.Stokes humorously captioned his post with a laughing emoji, remarking, “You should see the condition of the cricket ball.”He may require some additional time off to ensure complete recovery. It is important to note that he is already in the process of healing from an earlier injury he sustained during the fifth Test of the Ashes series in Sydney in early January.
That injury prevented him from bowling in Australia’s second innings. This period has been challenging for England’s captain, who, despite dealing with physical setbacks throughout the series, delivered commendable bowling performances. However, he faced difficulties with his batting, and England ultimately suffered a 1-4 defeat in the Ashes series.
