EU among Pakistan’s major trade partners, says Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has described the European Union as Pakistan’s second-largest trading partner, stressing the importance of strengthening economic and commercial ties.

She made the remarks during a meeting with Member of the European Parliament Mary Fatima Khan-Hohloch and a delegation in Lahore.

The meeting focused on ways to expand cooperation between Punjab and the European Union, particularly in agriculture and information technology, along with matters related to trade.

During the meeting, Mary Fatima Khan-Hohloch appreciated various public welfare initiatives being implemented by the Punjab government.

The visiting European delegation also welcomed the Punjab government’s initiative to introduce Minority Cards, aimed at supporting members of minority communities and improving their access to welfare programmes.

Both sides discussed avenues for enhancing mutual cooperation and exploring further opportunities in key economic and social sectors.
