KARACHI: Renowned lawyer and former federal minister Khalid Anwar has passed away at the age of 87.
The former law minister passed away in Karachi. According to his son, Rashid Anwar, Advocate, his father had been ill for some time and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital, where he passed away this morning.
Khalid Anwar’s funeral prayer will be offered on March 14, after Friday prayers, at Sultan Mosque, Defence.
The late Khalid Anwar’s father, Chaudhry Muhammad Ali, was the fourth Prime Minister of Pakistan. Khalid Anwar was a Barrister-at-Law and a graduate of St. John’s College, Cambridge University.
Khalid Anwar began his legal career in 1962 and quickly gained prominence. He worked in partnership with the late A.K. Brohi at the A.K. Brohi law firm.
Khalid Anwar served as the Law Minister of Pakistan from 1997 to 1999 during the government of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
