Lahore: Former member of national assembly, columnist Bushra Rehman passed away today, she was 78.

Bushra Rehman was born in Bahawalpur in August 29, 1944. She did her master in journalism from the University of Punjab.

She started her political life in 1983 and elected as member Punjab Assembly while she also remained MNA from the ticket of Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q).

She wrote as many as 13 books and she has been writing columns for long period.

The deceased also wrote many plays for the PTV and private productions. Her novel, short stories were very popular among women.

Many collections of fiction of Bushra Rehman have been published. Her famous novels included Allah Mian Ji, Bahshat , Barahrast, Butshikan, Chand se na khelo aur Charra Gar.

She was conferred with a presidential honour, Sitara-e-Imtiaz back in 2007.Bushra Rehman was married to Lahore industrialist Mian Abdul Rehman
