Ex-provincial Minister 14-day Physical Remand Approved

LAHORE:  Lahore Accountability Court (AC) has sent former provincial minister Sibtain Khan along with other accused to jail on a 14-day physical remand in the Chiniot mine and minerals case.

The AC Judge Ameer Muhammad Khan heard the case wherein ex-provincial minister along with other accused ex-secretary mines Imtiaz Cheema, ex-gm Aslam and ex-chief inspector mines Abdul Sattar appeared before the court.

The NAB counsel for seeking a judicial remand of the accused contended that the contract approval summary sent to chief minister just one day before the end of the government, whereas, it also has to be probed who approved the contract.

The lawyer of the accused said that the summary was prepared by the secretary minerals and sent to Chairman P and D and other concerned officials.

Moreover, the court approved the 14-day physical remand of Sibtain Khan and other three and sent to jail until July 17.

It is pertinent to mention here that the provincial minister accused of the awarding illegal contract of 500 metric tons of Iron ore of worth of Rs billions in Chiniot and Rajwa.
