Islamabad: The leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Faisal Vawda on Friday challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict of life time disqualification for him in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC).
In his petition, challenging the ECP and decision of IHC, has made ECP and opposing complainant respondents in the case.
The petition adopted the view that the ECP surpassed its powers adding that the ECP don’t have authority to impose article 62(1) f. He got the US citizenship by birth and not was taken after his birth.
The petition reads that the ECP don’t have powers to declare him disqualify for a lifetime adding that the ECP is not a court of law while the Islamabad High Court (IHC) disposed of his petition in a hurry.
The petition insisted the SC to declare the verdict of the ECP of lifetime disqualification null and void and restore him on a seat of senator.
