Faiz Hameed’s punishment marks just the start, says Vawda

ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has stated that the 14-year sentence given to former DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed signifies just the beginning of a larger wave of accountability. He emphasized that no individual involved in misconduct would escape responsibility, underscoring that no one is above the law.

The senator described the punishment handed down to Faiz Hameed as a pivotal moment for the original PTI leadership, asserting that the “Field Marshal has initiated accountability within his own ranks.”

Vawda stressed that crimes will not go unpunished, pointing out that numerous cases, particularly those linked to the events of May 9, remain unresolved and are expected to gain momentum in the coming days.

He referred to this development as a turning point for the nation, declaring that a new era is dawning for Pakistan while remarking that PTI is transforming into merely a social media entity.

According to Vawda, the Pakistan Army has taken significant steps towards ensuring accountability concerning the May 9 incidents, hinting at further action in the future.

He also noted that the decision against Faiz Hameed has garnered international approval and suggested that Pakistan is moving toward a phase where justice will take precedence and longstanding power structures will be dismantled.

Vawda issued a stern warning that the state would no longer condone disorder, unruliness, or any attempts to destabilize its institutions.

He concluded by affirming that Pakistan is entering an era centered on justice and cautioned that the future holds heightened scrutiny and intensified challenges for PTI and its founding leaders.
