Famous film director Masood Pervaiz being remembered on his death anniversary

Web Desk: The 24th death anniversary of famous film director Masood Pervaiz is being observed on Monday.

Masood Pervaiz was born in Amritsar in 1918.

He was relative of Saadat Hasan Manto from his father’s side.

After the partition, he moved to Pakistan and chose to live in Lahore.

He directed and produced many Urdu and Pun­jabi films.

He directed his first film Beli in 1950 and then continued to make memorable films for almost three decades.

The film Beli was also the first film of Sabiha Khanum,Santosh Kumar and music director Rashid Attre.

His films are Intizar (1956), Zeher-e-Ishq (1958), Koel (1959), Jhoomar (1959), Sarhad (1966) Heer Ranjha (1970), Haider Ali (1978) and Khak Aur Khoon (1979).

He was decorated with Presidential Award for Best Director in 1957 for the film Intizar.

This film won a total of six Presidential Awards.

Masood Pervez won the Nigar Award for Best Director for the films Heer Ranjha and Khak O Khun.

Moreover his films were selected for Nigar Award in several categories.

Masood Pervez passed away on this day in 2001 in Lahore.
