Farhan’s fiery ton shatters Zalmi’s hopes in spectacular showdown

WEB DESK: Sahibzada Farhan’s sensational 52-ball century, featuring 106 runs, led Islamabad United to a record 102-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi, marking their largest win in PSL history.

Sahibzada Farhan’s explosive 52-ball century, scoring an impressive 106 runs, propelled Islamabad United to a commanding victory, as they thrashed Peshawar Zalmi by 102 runs—recording their largest win in PSL history.

With this win, Islamabad tops the table with two consecutive victories, while Peshawar slides to the bottom after suffering back-to-back defeats.

Farhan’s innings featured 13 boundaries and 5 sixes, with his century arriving in just 49 balls, marking it as the joint-fastest hundred by a United player in PSL history.

The 29-year-old opener received significant support from Colin Munro, who contributed a solid 40 runs off 27 deliveries. Together, they forged a remarkable partnership of 144 runs for the second wicket in a mere 12 overs.

Although Alzarri Joseph claimed both their wickets in the same over, Islamabad continued to accelerate their scoring, courtesy of Salman Ali Agha’s quickfire 30 runs off 15 balls and Jason Holder’s brisk 20 off 11.

Consequently, they amassed a formidable total of 243 for 5, their second-highest ever in the league.

In response, Zalmi’s innings got off to a disastrous start as they lost three wickets within the first four overs. Key players Saim Ayub and Babar Azam fell early, both caught out after being bowled by Naseem Shah and Ben Dwarshuis, respectively.

Despite Mohammad Haris’s valiant effort, scoring 87 runs off 47 balls—highlighted by 12 fours and 4 sixes—Zalmi struggled to find stable partnerships.

Islamabad’s bowling unit was strong, with Imad Wasim leading the charge, taking three wickets, including that of Haris.

Shadab Khan and Dwarshuis also provided crucial breakthroughs, each claiming two wickets, ultimately leading to Zalmi’s collapse, all out for just 141 runs in 18.2 overs.
