ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister Forough Naseem announced to try again for the appointment of a female judge in the Supreme Court.
Addressing the award ceremony for women lawyers, Forough Naseem said that bar councils and bar associations also opposed the appointment of female judges. Surprisingly, human rights activists also opposed the appointment of female judges.
The federal law minister said he would try to get a female judge appointed to the Supreme Court, as well as legislate for women’s empowerment and their rights.
He advised women lawyers to come and practice in the field and said that only if women lawyers practice will they be able to be nominated as judges in the High Court.
