KARACHI: Senior politician Dr Farooq Sattar on Monday filed petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against his removal as party convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) after internal rift emerged with Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui-led Bahadurabad faction.
The petition stated that his removal was made in violation of Election Act and party regulations as the legal requirements for implementation of such decision were not met. It was also stated that two-thirds majority was needed to remove a member under MQM’s regulations but the decision was only signed by Kanwar Naveed Jameel.
Another MQM-P leader Rauf Siddiqui, who appeared before court in small industries case, interacted with journalists over Sattar’s matter. He invited the former convener should re-join the political party and eliminate the defects in MQM-P.
