Farooq Sattar convenes MQM MPAs’ meeting

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan  (MQM) chief Dr Farooq Sattar convened an emergency meeting of MQM members of Sindh Assembly.

This will be third meeting of MQM’s provincial legislators, as earlier in the day two meetings were also held.

A meeting of MQM MPAs was held on Friday morning before the start of Sindh Assembly session which was chaired by Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izhar-ul-Hassan.  The meeting was attended by some 35 MPAs out of the total 51 members of Sindh Assemebly of MQM.

After Sindh Assembly’s session, the MQM MPAs again met to deliberate over the situation arising out of the MQM’s London-based leadership’s demand from members of parliament to resign, with Khwaja Izhar-ul-Hassan in the chair.  After the meeting, Khwaja Izhar told media that no MPA of MQM will resign. Regarding MQM’s London-based leadership demand to resign, he said that they had announced their disassociation with the MQM London on August 23 and had nothing to do with them and their demand.

Later in the evening, MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar convened another meeting of MQM MPAs to held consultation over the issue of resignation.

Sources said that out of the 51 MPAs, some 11 MQM MPAs are currently abroad. Out of them Khalid Iftikhar, Khalid bin Walayat, Adnan Ahmed, Nadeem Razi and Shaukat Abdullah contacted Farooq Sattar and expressed their confidence in his leadership.
