Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal shake hands during seminar in KU

KARACHI: Chief of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Pakistan Farooq Sattar, and founder Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Syed Mustafa Kamal shook hands and sit together during a seminar in Karachi University on Saturday.

The two political who were in MQM are now heading two bitterly-opposed parties and have been at loggerheads. The participants of the conference were surprised to see a brief moment of courtesy between the two politicians, In what seemed to be a gesture to break the ice, Kamal offered his chair to Sattar.

The PSP chairman has made tough statements about Sattar and MQM Pakistan in the past, alleging ties between MQM Pakistan and its London-based faction.

“I can embrace him (Sattar) if you want,” Kamal said to the media, when a reporter requested the two leaders to shake hands again.

Addressing the seminar, former mayor of Karachi Mustafa Kamal said he spent three hundred billion on the city’s development and rehabilitation. “China Pakistan Economic Corridor could prove to be a game changer,” he said in a comment about the country’s economic development.

Also attending the seminar titled, “The role of youth in national integration and regional connectivity,” were prominent members of the Balochistan government including home minister Sarfaraz Bugti, health minister Rehmat Ali Baloch, and speaker Balochistan assembly Raheel Durrani. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah also addressed the seminar.
