LAHORE: World-renowned footwear designer Jimmy Choo recently toured Lahore, delving into Pakistan’s dynamic fashion industry and appreciating the exceptional artistry of local designers.
Accompanied by his niece, Lucy Choi, Choo visited prominent fashion houses, taking a close look at the detailed embroidery, intricate embellishments, and the seamless blend of traditional and contemporary aesthetics that define Pakistani couture.
His itinerary included stops at the studios of celebrated designers such as Faraz Manan, Kamiar Rokni, Nilofer Shahid, and Rehan Bashir Jalwana.
Reflecting on the craftsmanship he witnessed, Choi remarked that the visit evoked memories of the early days of the Jimmy Choo brand, which also emphasized handcrafted excellence.
Choo’s trip was organized in collaboration with the Jimmy Choo Academy (JCA), a fashion institution dedicated to fostering emerging talent.
With the support of Sarwar Khawaja, Patron of Arts at JCA, and Faiza Khan, the academy’s Company Director, the visit aimed to explore opportunities for showcasing Pakistani fashion on an international platform.
While no official collaborations have been confirmed, discussions about student exchange programs and potential internships were brought up.
Choo encouraged Pakistani designers to actively participate in global fashion weeks, such as those in London, New York, and Shanghai, to gain international exposure.
