Fault in PIA’s Sabre System Affects Flights Operation

Karachi (MAy 29, 2017): Flight operation of Pakistan International Airline was affected after technical glitch in its Sabre system.

According to the details, Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) information technology system suffered a serious malfunction on Monday, which has adversely affected the schedules of numerous flights.

As per details, a technical problem was developed in the Sabre system of the national flag carrier disconnecting its system from rest of the world.

Due to the problem, flight operation of the airline was also affected, as several flights were cancelled.  Flights from Islamabad, Delhi,  Turbat, Dhaka, Lahore  and Rahim Yar Khan to Karachi were cancelled due to the issue. PIA officials said they cannot yet confirm what caused the disruption.

Similar to the hacking troubles faced by British Airways over the past week, PIA’s operations came to a standstill when their software failed around 9am on Monday.

More than 60 per cent of British Airways flights from Heathrow airport were cancelled over the weekend after the airline was hit by a worldwide computer system power failure on Saturday. The error caused cancellations and delays for thousands of passengers.
