Federal Board of Revenue has once again fails to achieve revenue collection target facing a tax shortfall of Rs 40 billion during the month of November.
According to sources a tax collecting target of Rs 260 billion was fixed for November but only around Rs 220 was actually collected. During November last year FBR had collected Rs 229 billion tax.
The sources further said that FBR collected only Rs 1,080 billion in tax during five months ended November 30 this year against the fixed target of Rs 1,200 billion.
It may be mentioned here that the federal government had fixed Rs 3,621 billion tax target for the current fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. Thus FBR has to achieve a hard target to collect Rs 2,550 billion during the seven remaining months of the current fiscal year.
