FBR warns PTA, mobile phone companies of legal action if non-filers SIMs not shut till May 15

Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken a firm stand against non-filers as it warned the mobile phone companies if non-filers SIMS were not blocked till May 15 then legal action taken against cellular companies.

The FBR has committed to increase the tax net in the country while the FBR also decided to approch court against mobile phones companies.

Petition will be filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the FBR decided.

According to details the FBR has decided not to go back foot for blocking the SIMs of non filers and decided to take legal action.

Sources said that the FBR has started consultation with its legal team for approching the court against Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Telecom companies.

FBR and PTA, Telecom companies are at loggerhead over blocking the half millions SIMs of non filers.

FBR sources said that more than 10 days have past but PTA and mobile companies didn’t follow the orders of blocking the SIMs of half million non filers.
Whereas the Ministry of finance and FBR have aggreed to file petition against the PTA and mobile phone comapnies.

The FBR had directed the PTA to block half million non filers mobile SIMs till May 15.

The FBR has a plan to bring half million non-filers into the tax net by closing their SIMs.
