ISLAMABAD: Following the approval of the President of Pakistan, the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) has been temporarily relocated to the Federal Shariah Court building situated on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Law, after receiving the President’s approval, confirmed that the offices of the Shariah Court have been shifted to the Islamabad High Court premises.
The FCC, a newly established specialized tribunal created through the 27th Constitutional Amendment in 2025, is dedicated solely to constitutional issues. This move allows the court to operate temporarily at the Islamabad High Court, with its first Chief Justice, Aminuddin Khan, and judges recently sworn in.
The court’s primary mandate is to interpret the Constitution, resolve disputes, and hear constitutional appeals. Its creation aims to ease the workload of the Supreme Court and improve judicial efficiency. However, its formation has also sparked discussions and debates surrounding judicial reforms and restructuring efforts.
