Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has given the green light to the Visa Clearance System following a recommendation from the Ministry of Interior.
The decision was made during a cabinet session on Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the meeting, approval was also granted for the National Cannabis Control and Regulatory Policy 2025.
An official statement explained that the Visa Clearance System is designed to make it easier for Pakistani citizens to travel abroad by ensuring a transparent and efficient visa approval process.
The statement further highlighted that the new Cannabis Policy aims to encourage the cultivation and use of herbal plants in the pharmaceutical and textile industries domestically.
In addition, the cabinet endorsed the decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee during its meeting on December 18.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s commitment to political unity, stating that negotiations with all political parties are ongoing on a principled basis. He also warned against any attempts to undermine peace and stability under the pretext of dialogue, emphasizing that such efforts will not succeed.
