Federal government committed to providing affordable power to GB, Says Leghari

ISLAMABAD: Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Federal Minister for Energy, presided over a meeting of the Steering Committee overseeing the 100 MW Solar Power Project in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Monday.

During the meeting, he stated that the committee, established under the directives of the Prime Minister, remains fully operational and is actively working to ensure the project is completed on schedule. Leghari emphasized that delivering affordable and environmentally sustainable electricity to the residents of Gilgit-Baltistan continues to be a top priority for the government.

He highlighted the critical role of renewable energy, pointing out that shifting towards alternative energy sources is essential in today’s context. The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to developing sustainable, long-term energy solutions that will bolster the country’s energy security and diversify its energy sources.

Leghari described the 100 MW Solarization Project as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s development journey. He explained that the project aims to improve electricity access for local communities and act as a driving force for economic and social progress in the region.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and other relevant agencies, who discussed progress and next steps for the project’s implementation.
