Federal govt announces public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr

Islamabad: Federal government has announced three public holidays from 31st March to 2nd April for Eid-ul-Fitr.

A notification to this effect has been issued by Cabinet Division.

On the other hand, meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and various zonal committees will be held on March 30, Sunday, to observe the moon of Shawwal.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will take place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, where testimonies will be collected from across the country to observe the Shawwal moon.

The meeting will be attended by clerics, meteorologists, and other relevant individuals.

After this meeting, an official announcement will be made regarding the date for celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan, depending on whether the moon is sighted or not.

It is worth noting that a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held on February 28 in Peshawar to observe the moon of Ramadan.

According to astronomical models, the Shawwal moon will be visible on March 30, indicating that Eid ul Fitr will likely fall in Pakistan on March 31, 2025.
