Federal govt collected Rs.207 billion in term Excise Duty

ISLAMABAD: The federal government’s revenue from excise duty has increased by 207 billion rupees.

According to FBR, the federal government collected 577 billion rupees in excise duty in 2023-24, with tax revenues rising from cigarettes, cement, beverages, air tickets, and fertilizers.

Tax collection from petroleum, milk, cream, juices, and syrups, with excise duty collection rising by 56% compared to last year.

Excise duty on cigarettes exceeded 237 billion rupees, with an increase of 95 billion rupees. Duty collection on cement increased by 11.32 billion rupees, reaching 77.71 billion rupees. Tax revenue from soda water beverages saw a 113% increase, collecting 36.5 billion rupees.

Tax revenue from air tickets rose by 7.22 billion rupees, surpassing 47 billion rupees. Over 29 billion rupees in excise duty were collected from fertilizers, and there was an increase in the use of milk and cream, resulting in an excise duty revenue of 5 billion rupees.
