Federal Govt plans to implement smart lockdown amid rising fuel prices

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to introduce a smart lockdown in response to the increasing prices of petroleum products.

According to sources, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which various proposals were reviewed.

Sources indicate that the government has finalized the decision to implement a smart lockdown, with a formal announcement expected later this evening.

Under this plan, government and private offices are proposed to operate for four days a week, with Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays designated as holidays to reduce movement. Additionally, a rotation system for government employees is also being considered.

The government is also exploring options to close markets for three days and reduce business hours to curb public gatherings and movement.
