ISLAMABAD: The federal government is set to introduce a new online platform to streamline vehicle registration and address token payment issues related to the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme.
During a review meeting led by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Senator Ahad Khan Cheema, it was reported that the fuel subsidy program is making significant progress nationwide. The scheme has seen over five million registrations, with fuel tokens being issued smoothly across various regions.
The meeting, attended by Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, along with officials from the Ministry of IT, Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA), and provincial representatives, discussed the ongoing implementation process. It was noted that most registration obstacles at petrol stations have been resolved, and registered owners of motorcycles and other eligible vehicles are already benefiting from the relief.
Addressing challenges faced by unregistered rickshaw and loader owners, officials confirmed that registration processes for these vehicles are underway. Cheema emphasized the importance of resolving registration issues swiftly and instructed the PDA to develop a dedicated portal for reporting complaints related to vehicle registration and token payments. The portal is expected to be operational soon, enabling users to file grievances and track resolutions in real-time.
The authorities assured that the majority of fuel payments owed to petrol stations have been settled, with remaining issues anticipated to be resolved within a couple of days. Cheema highlighted that real-time feedback from field visits is helping to improve the scheme’s efficiency and ensure wider outreach to eligible beneficiaries.
