Ex-CM Sindh Ali Muhammad Mahar Injured For Resisting Dacoity Bid In Karachi

KARACHI: The federal minister for narcotics control and former chief minister Sindh Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar was injured after he offered resistance to a house robbery at his residence in the metropolis’ Gizri neighbourhood on Monday night.

According to the south police, the former Sindh CM was shifted to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A group of dacoits barged into a house of PTI leader Ali Mahar and injured him as soon as he resisted the dacoity,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP) for South, Pir Muhammad Shah.

SSP south further informed that dacoits didn’t open fire during the robbery.

“Ali Mahar, the PTI leader and federal minister was safe and his wounds are not critical,” said SSP Shah.

It must be noted that the former Sindh chief minister who gained 71,943 votes from the constituency of Ghotki-II, defeated Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Ahsanullah Sundarani in general elections 2018.

Later, he joined Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

On 11 September 2018, he was inducted into the federal cabinet and on 4 October 2018, he was appointed as Federal Minister for Narcotics Control.
