Islamabad: Federal Minister for Law and Human rights Azam Nazeer Tarar on Friday laid before the House the Anti-Terrorism Amendment Bill, 2024.
The bill is a further amendment in anti-terrorism bill act 1997 while under the amendments captivity of accused in police custody in target killing, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and in other cases will be extended.
Under the amendment bill any accused can be given in police custody for six months instead of three months.
The law will be applicable for two years.
The Chair referred the bill to the Standing Committee concerned.
