Islamabad: The verdict of Federal Shariat Court has been challenged in the Supreme Court (SC) by transgender community and civil society.
The director of transgender rights Nayab Ali and Muhammad Sarrim Imran have filed the petition in the SC.
They adopted the view that the Federal Shariat Court refused the rights of identification for a whole community adding that the law was implemented by elected members.
They opined that the court surpassed its jurisdiction while passing the judgement. The petition insisted that to declare the verdict to federal shariat court null and void.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal shariat court declared sections related rights of heirs and gender identity in clash with the Islamic law.
