FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has introduced the innovative “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” program, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Digital Pakistan” to promote transparency, efficiency, and accountability in electricity services.
A FESCO spokesperson highlighted that this initiative is a significant step toward empowering consumers to submit their own meter readings. Through the “Power Smart App,” available for download on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, customers can easily upload their meter readings, helping to reduce overbilling and improve accuracy.
To participate, users must register on the app by entering their consumer ID and other necessary details. They can then capture a photo of their electricity meter on a designated date and upload it directly through the app. The submitted image will take precedence over the meter reading images captured by the distribution company within the same billing period.
Based on the uploaded readings, monthly bills will be generated, with the “Apna Meter Apni Reading” label and a photo of the meter reading included on the bill for transparency. This system aims to minimize billing errors, prevent delays, and curb overcharging.
The initiative is especially beneficial for consumers in protected categories, as uploading meter photos on the due date ensures their readings are accurately recorded and prevents their inclusion in non-protected categories.
FESCO also emphasised safety, urging consumers to maintain safe distances from meters and electrical wires while taking photos and to follow safety protocols, as consumer safety remains a top priority.
