Clashes reported in Karachi, Hyderabad during by-elections on 63 Lb Seats

Karachi: A few cases of clash and tense situation were witnessed during by-elections on 63 seats of local bodies across Sindh including Karachi.

Three cases of brawl reported in Union Council (UC13) new Karachi Sector 8 today, in one of the incident tense situation was emerged when activists of two political parties were engaged in intense sloganeering while the area police reached on time to diffuse the tension.

On the other hand, in a second incident at the same UC mobile phones of poling agents were confiscated after workers of two political parties chanted intense slogans against each other at a school named Innocent school in New Rashidabad area in New Karachi.

Another tense situation reported in the UC 13 at a Programmer school after which the police arrested three persons carrying arms.

Meanwhile, following the brawl between two groups during Sindh LG by-elections, the polling has been suspended in Hyderabad’s UC 119.

As per details, two groups of candidates contesting an election in UC 119 of Hyderabad clashed and during the process, the ballot papers and lists were ‘looted.’

The policemen were also mistreated by the supporters of the candidates, while the polling staff was also forced to leave the polling.

Getting information about the clash, the provincial election commissioner and the district returning officer suspended the polling in UC 119 of Hyderabad.
