ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two members of a gang involved in visa fraud and migrant smuggling following a tip-off from the United States Embassy, officials said on Sunday.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrests were made by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle during an operation in Islamabad. The suspects were identified as Tahir Shehbaz and Rabb Nawaz.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were attempting to send 12 Pakistani nationals to the United States using forged documents, the spokesperson added.
The FIA said raids are ongoing to arrest two other accomplices involved in the network, while further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of the operation.
Officials reaffirmed that strict action is being taken against individuals involved in human trafficking and visa fraud.
