LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has dismantled a counterfeit currency printing operation in Lahore, arresting a key suspect during a targeted raid conducted by its Lahore Zone team.
An FIA spokesperson confirmed that the agency is continuing its nationwide crackdown against fake currency networks. As part of this ongoing effort, officials carried out a surprise operation in Bahria Town, Lahore, which led to the arrest of the accused.
The suspect, identified as Walid Hashmi, was apprehended at the scene while allegedly producing counterfeit Pakistani banknotes. Authorities stated that he was caught in the act of printing fake currency.
During the raid, FIA officials seized a significant amount of equipment and materials used in counterfeiting. The recovered items included chemicals, specialized paper, and multiple digital devices believed to be involved in the illegal operation.
The suspect has been taken into FIA custody, and a detailed investigation is underway to determine the scale of the counterfeit network and trace other individuals connected to the activity.
