KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Authority is investigating a scam of issuance of fake/illegal Computarised National Identity Cards (CNICs) from different Nadra centers in Karachi.
Sources said it was revealed that Karachi’s different Nadra centres had issued fake/illegal CNICs.
Nadra has identified 104 such CNICS which are said to be fake/suspicious. Following the revelation of the scam of fake/illegal CNIC issuance, Nadra high-ups requested FIA to investigate the scam and identify those involved in it.
After receiving the request, FIA started investigation into the scam. Sources said that FIA had marked 27 employees of different Nadra centres in the city and interrogated them. They said that the FIA investigation was in the final stage and FIA Karachi was preparing a report of the investigation.
They added that Nadra officials from data operation to Deputy Director’s level were interrogated by the investigation agency and a 200-pages report was in final stage.
The investigation report after finalization will be sent to Interior Ministry for further action.
