FIA Registered Treason Case Against Shaukat Tareen Under PECA

Islamabad: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a treason case against former finance minister Shaukat Tareen under the Prevention Of Electronic Crime Act (PECA).

The FIA cyber crime wing registered the case against Shaukat Tareen over his audio leaks viral on social media.

The sections of PECA 124 and 505 were included in the FIR of the FIA cyber crime wing registered against the PTI financial head. While former finance ministers of Punjab and KP Mohsin Leghari and Taimour Jhagra are also nominated in the case.

The investigation into their audio leaks have completed.

As per the FIR lodged in cyber crime wing of the FIA against Shaukat Tareen in his leaked audio calls held conversation based on wrong intentions.

In the audio Shaukat Tareen directed the finance ministers of Punjab Mohsin Leghari and Saleem Jhagra of KP not to returned the surplus budget to the federal government.

Before this the federal government has sent the matter to the FIA for investigation on the leak audios of Shaukat Tareen with provincial ministers.

As per the investigation of the FIA, ex-finance minister of PTI government Shaukat Tareen had held conversation with the provincial ministers to harm the agreement brokered with the IMF.

Shaukat Tareen had intentions to harm the national interests including the security of the country.

Yesterday, interior minister Rana Sanaullah had given permission to arrest Shaukat Tareen under the investigation of the FIA.
