WEB DESK: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is currently on an official visit to Egypt to strengthen military ties and promote defense cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt.
During his visit, the Chief of Army Staff met with Egyptian Defence Minister General Abdul Maged Saqar and Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fatehi. The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and enhancing bilateral defense collaborations. Field Marshal Munir emphasized the importance of Egypt as a brotherly nation and highlighted that closer cooperation would benefit both countries’ peoples and contribute to regional peace and stability.
At the Ministry of Defence, the visit was marked by a warm reception, including a Guard of Honour ceremony. The COAS laid a floral wreath at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and paid respects at the grave of the late President Mohamed Anwar Al Sadat.
In addition, COAS met with His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed El Tayab, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, at Mashaikhat Al Azhar Al Sharif. The Grand Imam shared his insights on the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah, while the COAS underscored the importance of combating extremist ideologies and distorted interpretations of Islam to promote unity and peace.
