Field Marshal Asim Munir honors national heroes on defence day

ISLAMABAD: Marking the 60th anniversary of Defence and Martyrs Day, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid a solemn tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan, acknowledging the unwavering courage and sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes. He extended heartfelt salutes to their families, emphasizing that their legacy continues to inspire future generations.

In a unified message, Pakistan’s top military leadership—including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of the Air Staff, and Chief of Naval Staff—commemorated the bravery and fearlessness of the country’s armed forces. They underscored that September 6, 1965, stands as a symbol of collective national strength, when Pakistan’s military repelled enemy aggression with unbreakable resolve.

“Our soldiers stood as an unyielding wall, fortified by a united nation,” the statement read. The Armed Forces reaffirmed their preparedness to deliver an immediate and decisive response to any future threats to national sovereignty.

Continued Commitment to National Service

In addition to safeguarding the country’s borders, the Armed Forces highlighted their active role in humanitarian relief efforts. Ongoing rescue and aid operations in flood-affected areas of Punjab reflect the military’s enduring commitment to supporting citizens during natural calamities.

A Day of National Reflection

Across Pakistan, Defence and Martyrs Day was observed with solemnity and deep respect. The nation remembered those who have laid down their lives since 1947, especially the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives in the battle against terrorism.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reiterated the Armed Forces’ dedication to maintaining peace and security within the country. “Long live Pakistan,” the ISPR message concluded, calling on all citizens to honour the legacy of the martyrs by working toward a more prosperous and peaceful nation.
