Field Marshal attends PARA closing ceremony, hails excellence in marksmanship

ISLAMABAD: The closing ceremony of the 45th Pakistan Army Rifle Association (PARA) Central Meet took place at the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) in Jhelum, with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), attending as the Chief Guest.

Held from October 1 to November 10, 2025, the PARA Central Meet brought together more than 2,000 participants representing the Pakistan Army, Air Force, Navy, Civil Armed Forces, and rifle associations from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and federal regions. Throughout the event, competitors showcased remarkable shooting expertise and professionalism.

The Pakistan Army claimed victory at the 3rd Inter-Services Combat Shooting Championship 2025, sweeping all four inter-services matches. The Punjab Regiment secured the Unit Firing Proficiency Match Group-I title, with Sepoy Muhammad Irfan from the same regiment earning the esteemed “Master at Arms” recognition. Additionally, Naib Subedar Umar Farooq of the Army Marksmanship Unit won the Army Hundred Rifle Match Trophy.

Speaking to the participants, the COAS commended their exceptional marksmanship and underscored the critical role of shooting proficiency within the armed forces. He stressed that achieving mastery in shooting must remain a fundamental goal of military training.

Following the event, the COAS attended the Centenary Celebrations of Military College Jhelum (MCJ) as Chief Guest. During the occasion, he inaugurated the Centenary Monument and College Museum to mark 100 years of the institution’s distinguished history and legacy.

Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated MCJ’s significant contributions to fostering leadership, discipline, and patriotism. He acknowledged the pivotal role its alumni, known as Alamgirians, have played in serving Pakistan and its armed forces. Concluding the visit, he laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honor the martyrs.
