RAWALPINDI: In a strong display of appreciation and resolve, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir commended Pakistan’s frontline troops for their bold and effective response to Indian provocations during recent tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), Army Chief Celebrates Eid ul Adha with Frontline Soldiers, Reaffirms Commitment to National Defense
The ISPR reported on Saturday that Gen. Munir praised the soldiers for avenging the loss of innocent Pakistani civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, amid ongoing hostilities with India.During his Eid ul Adha visit to forward positions along the LoC, Gen. Munir led Eid prayers and made special supplications for Pakistan’s peace, stability, and enduring security, honoring the sacrifices of martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s defense.
Expressing gratitude to officers and soldiers, the COAS highlighted their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and resilience in facing persistent challenges. He emphasized that celebrating Eid on the frontlines away from families exemplifies the national resolve to defend the motherland at all costs.The army chief also acknowledged the remarkable performance of Pakistani forces during Operation Marqa-e-Haq and Operation Bunyaanum Marsoos, which responded to Indian aggression, paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs and Ghazis whose efforts strengthen Pakistan’s security and resolve.
While interacting with troops, Gen. Munir praised their high morale, operational readiness, and vigilance in countering Indian ceasefire violations. He reaffirmed the armed forces’ preparedness to decisively deter any aggression and protect Pakistan’s sovereignty.Reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance on Kashmir, the COAS emphasized that the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people against Indian occupation remains a core issue, advocating for a resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiris.
Upon arrival at the LoC, Gen. Munir was received by the commander of the Rawalpindi Corps. The recent military confrontation between Pakistan and India included cross-border strikes and escalations, following the killing of 26 tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam and India’s unfounded accusations against Pakistan.
India responded with unprovoked attacks, killing several civilians in Pakistan before Pakistan’s armed forces retaliated with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which successfully downed six Indian Air Force fighter jets, including three Rafales, and dozens of drones. The conflict lasted over 87 hours but concluded on May 10 with a ceasefire brokered by the United States, aiming to restore peace along the border.
