WEB DESK: The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) has lifted the ban on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), following the successful constitutional amendments.
According to the details, the ban was revoked after the PFF Congress, in an Extraordinary Congress session held in Lahore last week, approved FIFA’s proposed amendments to the federation’s constitution.
The approval met the conditions set by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for reinstating Pakistan’s membership.
Shahid Khokhar, a member of the PFF Normalisation Committee (NC), confirmed the development and expressed gratitude to FIFA and AFC for their continuous support.
“The suspension ended after the amendments were passed in the PFF Congress meeting. The Pakistan Football Federation is grateful to FIFA and AFC for their continued support,” Khokhar stated.
The amendments were endorsed unanimously by PFF Congress members, who acknowledged that accepting FIFA’s proposed changes was in the best interest of Pakistan football.
FIFA had earlier made it clear that the suspension would only be lifted if the Congress approved the revised constitution.
With the ban now lifted, Pakistan is expected to resume international football activities, including the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, set to begin next month.
