Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance ,Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will participate in a vital talks with the buisness community over additional powers of the FBR today.
Presidents of Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot and Multan chambers will represent traders in the meeting.
Besides that trade leaders will also attend meeting through online.
The talks will aim at powers of FBR, tax policy, business reforms while the business community will raise disputed clauses included in the finance bill in front of the government.
It is merit to mention that the business community has threatened the government observing shutter down strike on July 10 all across the country over the additional powers of the FBR.
Yesterday, Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb called all business chambers and associations for negotiations on their strike of July 19 against powers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) today.
Talking to media at the overseas investors chambers of commerce in Karachi, the Minister said that he will listen point of view of all the chambers and associations regarding July 19 strikes and will try to teach our point of view as well.
He urged that all the chambers should attend the meeting after studying existing laws.
He apprised that we have put may safeguards in laws on sales tax fraud adding for arrest on an irregularity over Rs 50 million permission of commissioner or three-member FBR board will be must.
He clarified that there is no any relation with powers of the FRB and income tax while the FBR additional powers will be applicable on a person committing an embezzlement of Rs 50 million.
Muhammad Aurangzeb said that propaganda is being propagated on the additional powers of the FBR.
He said that the additional powers of the FBR was approved after consultation with standing committee in the National Assembly and the additional powers have been imposed to prevent sales tax fraud.
