GUJRAT: A major fire erupted at a three-storey commercial plaza in the Muslim Bazaar area of Gujrat on Friday, destroying 10 of the building’s 12 shops, according to rescue officials.
Police, led by the area’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze and secured the area to facilitate emergency operations.
Seven teams from Rescue 1122 were dispatched to tackle the fire. After an extensive firefighting operation, rescue personnel succeeded in bringing the blaze under control.
No immediate reports of casualties were available, while the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and assess the extent of the damage.
