KARACHI:  First lunar eclipse of 2025 is set to occur tomorrow, March 14, as confirmed by the Pakistan Meteorology Department.

This celestial event will be visible across Europe, much of Asia, Australia, Africa, North America, South America, and the Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and Antarctic regions. Unfortunately, it will not be visible in Pakistan due to its occurrence during daytime hours.

According to the Meteorology Department, the lunar eclipse will commence at 8:57 AM, with the total eclipse happening at 11:59 AM and concluding at 3:00 PM. This marked event, often referred to as a “Blood Moon,” will be the first of its kind observed in three years, following the last occurrence in 2022.

A lunar eclipse transpires when the Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon. Unlike a solar eclipse, observing a lunar eclipse does not endanger one’s eyesight.

In addition to the lunar eclipse, the first solar eclipse of the year is anticipated on March 29, which will also not be visible in Pakistan.
