First ODI: South Africa sets a target of 264 runs for Pakistan

FAISALABAD: South Africa has set a target of 264 runs for Pakistan in the opening match of the three-match ODI series. South Africa was dismissed for 263 runs in 49.1 overs.

The match, being played in Faisalabad, saw Pakistan win the toss and elect to field first. This match marks the return of international cricket to Faisalabad after 17 years.

South Africa’s Innings:

South Africa got off to a strong start against Pakistan, with an impressive opening partnership of 98 runs. The first wicket fell when Pretorius was dismissed for 57 runs. The second wicket, that of Quinton de Kock, was taken when he scored 63. Subsequently, Tony de Zorzi scored 18, captain Batswell scored 42, and Marco Boucher made 41 before being dismissed.The entire South African team was bowled out for 263 runs in 49.1 overs.

Pakistani Bowling:

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each, while Saeem Ayub claimed two. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Nawaz each took one wicket.

It is noteworthy that Shaheen Shah Afridi is leading the Pakistani team as captain for the first time in ODIs. He described the opportunity to lead the team as an honor.
