Quetta: Experts have said that if fish processing plants are established in Balochistan then the earning from fisheries industry can be doubled.
Pakistan current capacity of fisheries from sea is 500 million dollars and it can be hiked to 100 billion dollars.
At the present, 0.6 million people are belonged to fishing industry. On the other hand as many as 1,37000 metric ton fishes of worth 105 million dollars were caught in the last financial year of 2023-2024.
There are 36 cold storage plants exist at the moment.
The experts said that if the government establishes fish processing plants then the earning can be doubled.
The fishing industry can provide two million jobs opportunities to residents living near the sea in Balochistan.
