LAHORE/BANNU: At least five people, including three children, lost their lives while several others were injured in separate roof collapse incidents reported in Lahore and Bannu following heavy rainfall.
In Lahore, the tragedy occurred in the Badami Bagh area, where a house roof caved in during overnight rain. Rescue teams responded to an emergency call from Street No. 11 in Zafar Park and managed to pull victims from beneath the debris. Two young men, identified as Qasim Javed, 25, and 18-year-old Awais, lost their lives, while two women sustained serious injuries.
Rescue officials shifted the victims to Nawaz Sharif Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said the structure involved was built with temporary materials, which may have contributed to the collapse.
In a separate incident in Bannu’s Warashmi Kalan Mandan area, the roof of a house collapsed amid intense rains, trapping five children of a local resident under the rubble. Despite rescue efforts, two girls and a boy could not survive, while two injured boys were pulled out alive.
Emergency responders transported the victims to District Headquarters Hospital Bannu.
Officials have warned that continuous rainfall has weakened structures in several areas, urging residents to take precautionary measures to avoid further tragedies.
