QUETTA: In a counter-terrorism effort, five militants were neutralized during an intelligence-based operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The operation was initiated following credible intelligence about militant activity in the region, according to officials.
As per a CTD spokesperson, the raid led to a fierce exchange of gunfire between security forces and the suspects. While five terrorists were killed in the encounter, seven others managed to flee into the surrounding mountainous landscape, exploiting the lack of visibility under darkness.
During the sweep of the hideout, authorities recovered five Kalashnikov rifles, seven hand grenades, and three motorcycles. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the escaped individuals as security forces continue their search operation.
The bodies of the slain militants have been transported to Civil Hospital Quetta for identification. Further investigations revealed that the group was involved in disrupting key routes such as the Quetta–Sibi highway and orchestrating attacks against security personnel and civilians.
Security agencies remain vigilant in maintaining stability in the region while striving to prevent any potential threats to public safety.
