ISLAMABAD: According to reports, five employees of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) have reportedly been kidnapped in Bannu. In response, Federal Power Minister Owais Leghari has issued a formal letter to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, urging immediate action.
The incident occurred while the PESCO staff were working on an 11 KV Bakakhel feeder, carrying out official duties such as disconnecting electricity connections of delinquent customers and collecting outstanding payments. Around 1:00 PM, unidentified individuals abducted the employees, and their current whereabouts remain unknown, Leghari expressed concern over the situation in his letter.
An initial report has been filed with local law enforcement, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Leghari called on the KP Chief Minister to step in and ensure the safe return of the kidnapped workers, emphasizing that all available resources should be deployed for their recovery.
The minister also shared copies of his correspondence with the Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of KP Police, reinforcing the urgency of the matter.
