Florida police find mystery tunnel leading to Chase bank

PEMBROKE PINES: Robbing a bank may look easy on the big screen, but IRL, not so much and for the adventures of Florida Man, definitely not. An unknown person may have attempted a movie-style bank robbery in Pembroke Pines.

The FBI is investigating a tunnel leading toward a Chase bank that was found by a public works crew, NBC 6 reports.

A winch, wagon and a small generator were discovered inside the 50-yard tunnel, according to NBC 6.

“We don’t know who is behind this at this time, they could have been here a week ago, last night, we don’t know at this time but it is an extensive hole,” FBI Special Agent Michael Leverock said to reporters.

Police sent a cadaver dog into the hole to search for people but no one was found.

The tunnel may have collapsed due to heavy rain, so it’s safe to say whoever occupied the tunnel did not make a grand getaway with sacks of cash. Authorities are calling the incident an attempted robbery according to FBI Special Agent Michael Leverock.
