ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday strongly condemned terrorist attack on military base situated in provincial capital of Afghanistan’s Wardak province.
FO spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal in his latest statement on Twitter said, “Islamabad strongly condemns terrorist attack in Wardak that has reportedly taken more than 100 lives.”
He added, “We pray for the maghfirah of the deceased. Our hearts go out for the bereaved families. We share their grief.”
The spokesperson said that the ‘reprehensible acts vitiate the environment of ongoing efforts for peace.’
A Taliban attack on a military compound in central Afghanistan has killed at least 20 security personnel and injured many more, foreign media quoted Afghan officials.
Militants rammed a vehicle laden with explosives through a military checkpoint in Wardak province, before detonating it.
Some media reports say the attack, which targeted members of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), resulted in more than 100 deaths, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility of the attack.
