RAWALPINDI: Former director general of Inter Services Intelligence, Lt Gen (retired) Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment for violating Secret Act.
Pakistan Army’s media wing ISPR has stated that proceedings under the Pakistan Army Act have been initiated against him through a Field General Court Martial and the process continued for 15 months.
Mr. Hameed faced four charges, including involvement in political activities, breaches of the Official Secrets Act endangering national security, misuse of authority and state resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals. After thorough hearings and detailed examination of evidence, the Court found him guilty on all counts.
On December 11, 2025, the Court promulgated a sentence of 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The proceedings adhered strictly to all legal and procedural requirements, and the accused was provided full legal rights, including representation by a defence team of his choosing. He retains the right to appeal through the appropriate channels.
Separately, matters relating to his alleged role in promoting political agitation and instability, in coordination with political actors and other elements, are under independent review.
