Former PM Nawaz Chairs PML-N Important Consultative Huddle

Lahore (August 15, 2017): The consultative meeting of ruling party PML-N was held in Raiwand with the chair of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed the party’s internal affairs and country’s overall political situation.  

The meeting, chaired by Nawaz Sharif, was also attended by Hamza Shahbaz, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Railways Minister Saad Rafique, Anusha Rehman, Zahid Hamid, Irfan Kirmani, Irfan Siddiqui and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, others.

Source told Abb Takk that Meeting also discussed future course of action. It decided that Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will address a public meeting in Multan “within 10 days” as part of the campaign against his ouster from power by the top court, the party has decided.

In the meeting held in Lahore, it was decided that following the Grand Trunk Road rally, the campaign against Nawaz’s ouster will be expanded to other cities and provinces.The participants rejected the idea of using the GT Road for the Multan rally, saying there were security risks in opting for the route.

Those in attendance also agreed to begin consultation with other party leaders on the ongoing campaign.

Later, Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif filed three separate petitions in the Supreme Court to review and stay further implementation of the Panamagate verdict that resulted in his disqualification.The petitions seeking review of the July 28, 2017 judgment of the larger bench of the apex court, which disqualified Nawaz Sharif was filed by Khuwaja Haris, who represented Nawaz Sharif in the Panama case.

The 28-pages petition sought the apex court to review its verdict and withdraw it.

The apex court’s five-judge larger bench had unanimously disqualified Nawaz due to his failure to disclose his ‘un-withdrawn receivables, constituting assets’ in his nomination papers filed ahead of the 2013 general elections.
